Unfortunately for me this week coincides with a number of events that will ultimately prevent me from attending any gigs. Quite the bummer as there are plenty of gigs I would love to be attending, but thankfully there shouldn’t be anything preventing you good folks from attending in my absence.
Transmit: Fight Like Apes – Limelight 2 – Wednesday 8th May 2013
It has been a long time since we have seen or heard anything from Irish rockers Fight Like Apes, but thankfully after a two year break they are back and ready to make the next step. Support comes from local bands A Northern Light and Concrete Circus. We are giving away a pair of tickets in our competition – Fight Like Apes Tickets Competition
Tickets available online for £6 or £5 on the door
Fossil Collective – Limelight 2 – Thursday 9th May 2013
Sounding like a heavenly cross between Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, this Leeds two piece continue the recent trend of high quality indie/folk acts. Bound for the big time, now would be a good time to see the Fossil Collective before they hit the big time.
Tickets are £11.75 and are available from Ticketmaster
Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls – Limelight – Sunday 12th May 2013
It seems like it has become a tradition for Frank Turner to make at least two trips to Belfast a year and with most previous occasions selling out well in advance, it is clear there is a real demand from you guys to see him. This show is in support of his latest release Tape Deck Heart.
Tickets are £19 and available from Ticketmaster – I very much doubt there will be any tickets left on the door so you have been warned!
Special Mention: Lucy Rose – Oh Yeah Centre – Thursday 9th May 2013
The last time Lucy Rose was in town she packed out Auntie Annies and blew away the crowd with a spine-tingling performance (my review is here). Her stock has risen again since that appearance and I am truly gutted I can’t make it down.
