Loads of great drinks promotions on the night!
Belfast promoters SO:NI host the latest in their popular monthly series of showcase gigs at the city’s prestigious Empire Music Hall on Thursday 9th August.
This event is an album launch party for one of N.I’s biggest rock bands – Million Dollar Reload, who recently signed to world renowned Italian rock label Frontiers Records (the current home to such rock giants as Journey and Whitesnake!) and have released their 2nd album “A Sinner’s Saint”, the long awaited follow up to the successful debut “Anthems of a Degeneration”. Million $ Reload is a ferocious live rock act, with equal doses of prime Guns’n’Roses and Bon Scott era AC/DC in the mix. They also have the tunes to match – hook laden, riff heavy gems with skyscraping choruses – and their increasing demand on the festival circuit, including another slot at this year’s Download Festival is testament to their power as a live act.
Special Guests on the night and playing a Belfast “comeback” show with a brand new line-up is Sweet Taste – a gutsy, bluesy hard rock outfit, with plenty of soul and groove in their makeup. Combining the swagger of Aerosmith with the blues grind of The Black Crowes, Sweet Taste is an uplifting live proposition.
Kicking off the gig, and playing their first ever show is Rival Saints – a brand new hard rock quintet led by ex-Black Freeway and sometimes solo artist Matt Fitzsimons, and featuring a flamboyant line-up with plenty of history on the NI rock scene in such bands as Twisted Rose and Sweet Taste. “Balls to the wall, pure classic rock” is what this band promises!
Also – featuring in a special “Midnight Rock Slot” after Million $ Reload finish their headline set is Fermanagh sleaze-rock quartet Filthy Angels – whose ultra catchy tunes are captured on debut album L.A.F.A, which has been released on the Pledge Music platform, after the band’s fans paid for the recording of the record in advance. This is also Filthy Angels’ Empire debut.
Doors open at 8.30pm, admission is only £5, and there will be plenty of great value drinks promotions on the night. For info on all SONI shows join them on Facebook by searching Soni Live or check www.myspace.com/onesonimusic for line-ups
The SONI team is also hard at work on the buildup to Sunflowerfest 2012, a 3 day festival of music & much more which takes place at Tubby’s Farm near Hillsborough from 17-19th August. Million $ Reload and Sweet Taste also take part in the Fest, on Friday 17th. For the full line-up check www.sunflowerfest.co.uk
