So, The Clameens have released their first ever music video, and it’s fair to say it’s not exactly what we expected.
The youthful Maiden City four-piece have been faulting their stuff on numerous different stages over the past twelve months with notable appearances on the Arts show and Other Voices only helping to crank up a ready and waiting hype machine.
Mainly dabbling in exuberant indie-pop, mix in some slick threads and that trademark Derry swagger, and harks to The Undertones are only ever going to follow. But if this new track is anything to go by pre-conceptions have been royally getting on their wick.
It’s upbeat, cheeky and the song fits snuggly in their repertoire of lad-y guitar pop. However sequin-dresses, wind-swept hair flicks and drag is not what you’d associate with the band.
The video for the track takes the idea of ‘Don’t Judge Me’ quite literally. Featuring a dancer with massive heels and even bigger eye make up it’s a rather usual video for an indie band to say the least. Yet, it does have it’s charms.
Check out the Tony Webster (BigBadLama) Directed video below, but if you happen to be in Dublin on April 25 or Brighton on May 9 or 10 make sure to catch the lads playing The Twisted Pepper and The Great Escape Festival respectively.
